1. Product Introduction of I.V Catheter
IV Catheters are indwelling single-lumen plastic conduits that allow fluids, medications and other therapies such as blood products to be introduced directly into a peripheral vein.

4. Direction for use of IV Catheter
● Select proper type and size of I.V. Cannula. Always use the smallest size cannula possible to adequately deliver to I.V. Fluids.
● Carefully select and clean the vein puncture site.
● Inspect cannula package for integrity and expiry and then remove cannula from package.
● Remove needle cover and grip the cannula from the injection port cap and needle hub projection.
● Insert cannula into the vein at a low angle and check for blood in flashback chamber to ensure proper vine puncture.
● Advance the catheter into vein and simultaneously withdraw the needle gently.
● Do not try reinsert a partially or completely withdrawn needle.
● Avoid blood spillage by pressing a finger on the vein, on or above the catheter tip.
● Replace the needle with either the I.V. Infusion Set line or the luer lock plug.
● Discard the needle in an appropriate waste container.
● Tape down the wings of the cannula on the patient's skin and cover the puncture site with a sterile dressing.
● Drug can be injected intermittently with the help of a syringe through the injection port after removing the port cap.
● Inspect vein puncture site regularly for any reactions and check all connections.
