Double Lumen Endobronchial Tube is used in thoracic surgery or for anesthesia duringpulmonary surgery, it is also used when selective collapse or ventilation of the pulmonary field can enhance surgical exposure and used for critically ill patients who have uni-lateral lung disease from pulmonary contusion. The Tracheobronchial Tube, a device with double-lumen tube, separate the left and right lungs for individual ventilation. The tube is usually inserted into the airways through the mouth of the patient. The air outlet of one of the channels is placed in one of the bronchi, while the air outlet of the other channel, which is shorter, is then situated in the trachea. The windpipe is then closed by inflating a balloon which is arranged around the respiratory tube. The bronchus in which the air outlet of the longer channel is situated is likewise closed by inflating a balloon arranged therearound. 4. Direction for use of Double Lumen Endobronchial Tube

● Select the suitable sized Tracheobronchial Tube.

● Once the patient is anaesthetised and paralysed, the selected tube is inserted into the trachea until the tracheal cuff is just below the vocal cords..

● With each breath, the tube is advanced into the trachea until the bronchial segment plugs the bronchus.

● Once the brochial plugging point has been identified, the cuff is deflated and the tube inserted an additional length (bronchial cuff length +1 cm).

● If desired, further checks can be made by auscultation or fibreoptic bronchoscopy.

● The tube is then connected to the breathing circuit via a double catheter mount.
