● Open the package, remove the sterile Gastrostomy tube.
● Make a small incision only slightly larger than the tube itself in the abdominal wall.
● Generously lubricate tip and shaft of the tube. Do not use ointment and lubricants having petroleum base.
● Place the Gastrostomy Tube into the stomach through the incision.
● Inflate the balloon with sterile water to the volume stated by the manufacturer.
● Secure the tube with the Skin Disk.
● The caregiver or patient thoroughly washes their hands with soap and water before preparing formula.
● Infuse formula slowly.
● Medications may be administered if necessary.
● Deflate the balloon and remove the Gastrostomy Tube after use.
